FRIDAY FEATURE: THUNDERING WATERS

What is the worst trial you have ever gone through? Perhaps you might say, “the one I’m going through right now.” When I look back over my many years, I see some times when the trial felt impossible to ever resolve. And you know what? Every time it did. I’m not still in that trial I faced in 1987 or 1995 or 2005 – I could go on and on and on. It was hard to see at the time but God really was with me – bringing me “through” the trial. He didn’t always allow me to avoid the trial, He simply brought me through it. Today’s feature painting THUNDERING WATERS is a beautiful portrayal of Jesus being with us when it feels like we could be drowning. I haven’t ever been to Niagra Falls and obviously, this doesn’t even begin to compare with the power of that waterfall, but those who have been there – say the power is almost terrifying when you get to close. Even this place Jack depicted would be too much for us to walk under it without fear and danger. So let’s apply a bit of symbolism here. What if when we are facing a trial that seems impossible – what if we were to hear the Father – asking us to trust Him with the trial and invites to walk into it by faith – believing that He will see us through? According to Isaiah 43:2, He says…

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.

The question today is – will you trust Him with your thundering waters of trials and struggles?
