Stepping in the Light

by Jack E. Dawson

If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another.
1 John 1:7

Notice the traveler sitting on a rock overlooking a cascading mountain stream. From the first stepping stone of truth at the bottom of the hill, where hope and life span the turbulent waters, his path has led across the timeless rocks of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Light from this Fruit of the Spirit stands in sharp contrast to the shadows of doubt, lies, hate, evil, sin, death, laziness, fear and murder on the dark undersides of the rocks. The traveler is free to choose: stumble back down over the rough terrain into ruin and loss, or press upward in his walk of faith, trusting Christ, studying and reading His Word, and stepping in the light of His principles and truths. The eagle calls him to choose freedom in the heights above, keeping his eye on the center cross, where Jesus secured life for all who will believe. Are you walking in the light of His truth?
