Last Chance Revival
by Jack E. Dawson
I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
2 Corinthians 6:2
The true story of G.K. (Bitsy) Rees is portrayed in this painting. As a young man he attended a revival service at the insistence of his mother. During the invitation he came under great conviction. Instead of going to the altar, he went outside and smoked a cigarette. As he thought about making a decision to trust in Jesus, it was as if he heard the Lord say, “This is your last chance.” It made such an impression that he flicked away his cigarette, went to the altar and surrendered his life to Christ. God powerfully used him in the ministry for over 60 years. But here is the rest of the story: Within one week after the revival a young man with whom he had run around was killed in a car accident. It truly could have been his last chance. What about you? Now is the day of salvation. The question mark in the path leads to the center cross. Are you turning away like the rider in the distance? Are you outside considering like the rider in the foreground? Or are you inside, enjoying the fellowship of the Lord and His Body, the Church? Won’t you give your life to Jesus?
