Sacred Dwellings Serie by Jack E. Dawson - HeaderChurch buildings across the world are a testimony to the faith and dedication of millions over the centuries.  The structures are as individual as the cultures that were inspired to provide a place of worship, instruction and fellowship where the real “sacred dwellings,” gather.  These are Believers in Jesus Christ, who carry a message of faith in their hearts.  Paintings in this series will feature four important thoughts and their symbols based on 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Spirit of God(1) inspires the Word of God(2) to equip the People of God(3) to do the Work of God(4) in Jesus’ name.

Sacred Dwelings by Jack E. Dawson - Logo-Red

The Logo

Two circle shapes combined together form an S for the word “Sacred.” The vertical line in the cross forms the D for “Dwelling.” The top circle is empty and incomplete and represents a useless vessel empty of Christ’s presence or influence.  The lower circle is complete and has a cross appearing inside representing the individual who has the presence of God in his or her life.

The Interpretation

The illustration is based upon the potter who is creating a vessel on a potter’s wheel. Only the potter can see down inside the “heart” of the vessel as he is forming and shaping the unique piece of pottery. Isaiah 64:8 illustrates that God is the potter and we are the clay. He, the master creator, can see what is in our “heart,” and it is His desire for us to have a complete and new heart. When He fills our life with His presence we can be complete and fit for our intended purpose in living, loving and serving as a “Sacred Dwelling” place where He and His Word abide. Christ’s presence in us is like a hidden treasure in an earthen vessel.

1. A dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit Who inspired men to write the sixty-six books of the Bible and still inspires and empowers us to accomplish His will.  2. A Bible, the foundation we hold as absolute truth.  3. A person, whom God uses to do His work.  4. An activity, the “work” of this Sacred Dwelling conveyed by the title and message.
