In the Twinkling of an Eye
by Jack E. Dawson
Now this I say, brethren . . . we shall all be changed,in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump. 1 Corinthians 15:50,52
The blessed hope for the believer is Christ’s imminent return for us. As His face appears in the clouds we realize that we are just an instant, the twinkling of an eye, away from being caught up with Him. We are to be watching, waiting and working. This painting depicts the Holy Land with Jerusalem and the Valley of Armageddon in the distance signifying the sight of the Great Battle mentioned in Revelation. The Lord’s return can be in any season (notice the four trees in the lower right corner); at any time period as depicted by the jet, motorcycle and buggy; and during any occasion of our lives. The eagles are a solemn warning of that great judgment day on which we are told there will be a gathering of birds. They also remind us that when we place our faith in Him we will soar like eagles.
