An Update about Nancy

Hello friends.  I’m Jack and Nancy’s daughter, Sarah.  Back in May we shared the news that my Mom had been diagnosed with multiple brain tumors.  Since then our world has turned upside down as we have journeyed through a lot of uncertainty and change. They performed a brain biopsy and unfortunately the diagnosis was a fast-growing and aggressive terminal brain cancer called glioblastoma.  It is certainly not the diagnosis we were hoping for and yet we are encouraged by my Mom’s faith during this difficult time.

She completed a round of radiation and we were faced with more difficult news in that the change was not what they were hoping to achieve. So we continue to ask for your prayers in the days ahead.  She is currently very weak and very quiet, but thankfully seems content.  I’ll never forget her statement at the very beginning of all of this. We were sitting there trying to process this unbelievable news and my Mom’s words were… “God’s got this.”  We believe those words to be true even now.

Just a personal note from me…. I feel so blessed to have parents who are as authentic as they come.  They love the Lord and have always had such a desire to share the hope that we possess.  Hope that they each share through their own gifting.  Growing up I thought it was so neat to have a father who loved art and a mother who loved music.  It is a beautiful combination and during this difficult season I have been encouraged by both.  I was recently thinking of my Dad’s painting “Peace in the Storm” and how I feel so much like that tiny bird tucked safely away in the rock.  There have been moment in all of this that are so overwhelming.  The storm is raging and yet I have a hiding place… a safe Refuge in Him where I can find peace.

As for my Mom, during all of this there was one thing we both wanted to do – SING. We shared some of our favorite songs and hymns on our website, SongBird Sing. We pray that you might be encouraged as we share a little more of the story over there.

Thank you for all of the prayers, emails, texts, words of encouragement….it has been such a tremendous blessing to us all.  We appreciate your prayers for the days ahead….
